Machine Vision & Inspection Engineer

Location: Irvine, CA (On-site)

Type: Full-time, Exempt

Salary Range: $110,000 – $140,000 base + bonus potential

About the Role

This role designs and deploys machine vision systems to automatically inspect product and packaging quality, ensuring defects are detected and rejected before packing and shipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement vision inspection systems for print, label, presence, orientation, and defect detection.

• Specify cameras, lenses, lighting, and mounting for stable inspection in production conditions.

• Integrate vision results with PLC logic to trigger reject mechanisms and alarms.

• Validate and tune inspection systems to minimize false rejects and misses.

• Document inspection setups and re-validation procedures for artwork or product changes.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience implementing machine vision systems in manufacturing.

• Strong practical understanding of lighting, optics, and inspection tuning.

• Comfortable testing and adjusting systems directly on the factory floor.
